Ellis Island

From 1892 to 1954, over twelve million immigrants entered the United States through Ellis Island.  Ellis Island is located in New York Harbor just of the New Jersey coast.  It is within viewing distance of the Statue of Liberty.  The original 3.3 acre island now stands at 27.5 acres through expansion by the use of landfill.
